چکیده

The cyanoacrylate polymer particles, which do not contain antibiotics or antibacterial agents, bond with the cell wall of drug-resistant bacteria, and then induced an auto-destructive behavior that causes the bacteria to destroy itself. Because of this, the drug-resistant bacteria are unable to arise. One noteworthy point of this nano-polymer is that it excels in safety given its induction of bacteria auto-destruction. The raw ingredients of this polymer consist only of biodegradable acrylic adhesives used in clinical practice and saccharides; thus, there have been no observed side effects in oral administration, tail vein administration, celiac administration, or intramuscular administration in mice. In this way, there are no other antibacterial agents that are superior to our nano-polymer in terms of safety given this antibacterial mechanism. *Corresponding author: Shoichi Shirotake, Department of PharmacoTherapeutics, Yokohama City University, Japan, Tel: +81-45-787-2705; Fax: +8145-787-2707; E-mail: [email protected] Received October 30, 2013; Accepted Janaury 20, 2014; Published Janaury 23, 2014 Citation: Shirotake S (2014) A New Cyanoacrylate Colloidal Polymer with Novel Antibacterial Mechanism and Its Application to Infection Control. In-vitro evaluation of antibacterial potential of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives for intraoral wound closure

Background: Cyanoacrylate tissue adhesives have been used as a substitute to silk for intraoral wound closure. Placement of sutures provides a corridor for accumulation of microorganisms into tissue which leads to infection. Cyanoacrylate-based adhesives exhibit many properties of an ideal wound closure agent, minimizing the problems generated by suturing thread. The antimicrobial properties of...

The Application of a New Cyanoacrylate Glue in Pediatric Surgery for Fistula Closure

Surgical glues have been used in pediatric surgery because of the fragility of tissue, and to prevent major surgeries. The present report describes our experience with using a new cya-noacrylate Glubran 2 (Viareggio, Italy) in the treatment of five cases of tracheoesophageal atresia with fistula (one fistula protection, three recurrent fistula, and one unstable patients), two cases of hypospadi...

Application of Ion - Imprinted Polymer Synthesized as New Sorbent for Preconcentration and Separation of Thallium (I) and Its Determination by Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy

At this study, thallium (I) ion-imprinted polymer, as a novel sorbent for Tl (I) and comparison with Tl(III) ion-imprinted polymer has been synthesized. This sorbent for preconcentration and solid-phase extraction of Tl(I) ions from aqueous solutions, used. Through preparing the binary complex of Tl(I) ions with 5, 7-dichloroquinoline-8-ol (DCQ) the particles of thallium (I) Ion-Imprinted P...

Cyanoacrylate for Intraoral Wound Closure: A Possibility?

Wound closure is a part of any surgical procedure and the objective of laceration repair or incision closure is to approximate the edges of a wound so that natural healing process may occur. Over the years new biomaterials have been discovered as an alternate to conventional suture materials. Cyanoacrylate bioadhesives are one among them. They carry the advantages of rapid application, patient ...

Design, Modeling, and Construction of a New Tactile Sensor for Measuring Contact-Force

This paper presents the design, modeling, and testing of a flexible tactile sensor and its applications. This sensor is made of polymer materials and can detect the 2D surface texture image and contact-force estimation. The sensing mechanism is based on the novel contact deflection effect of a membrane. We measure the deflection of the membrane with measuring the strain in the membrane with emb...
